Mitra pained by allegations that GAB is not doing its job

Senator Manny Pacquiao has filed a bill seeking to create the Philippine Boxing Commission (PBC), separate from the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) which is under the chairmanship of Abraham Mitra, a former congressman and governor of Palawan.

In introducing the bill, Pacquiao praised the Philippines for producing world class boxing champions then scored the Games and Amusement Board (GAB), claiming that under it, boxing has not been given “proper and appropriate attention it deserves.”

Under Pacquiao’s bill, the PBC will have its own set of officials, budget and powers.

Mitra has opposed the bill and even expressed sadness that GAB has been rendered a bad picture by people pushing for the bill.

“Sana lang walang vested interest,” he said.
